This poster talks about the extreme water quality of the Hartebeespoortdam. By the use of exaggeration, I conveyed a serious message in a tongue and cheek manner. The objective was to raise awareness about the problem and ultimately generate a call to action.

70 Juta Street, explored by Tarien

This is one of my favorite little Jo'burg gems which I stumbled on whilst doing a stock photography shoot with Johannesburg based photographer Pieter Vosloo. 70 Juta Street, nested in the heart of Braamfontein is the perfect place to visit when the creative juices  are low and you need a pick-me-up. 

The photo's in this post aren't mine but I love the photography style, clever copy and beautiful typography.

The creative concept was to use legendary figures through time and show how ghd can change their stories in a contemporary way, communicating to the selected target market that ghd can tame the untamable.

Stationary Design

Client: Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital 

In collaboration with Sean Oberholser

The concept was to portray the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital as a magical place where the joy and innocence of childhood will be preserved.  

Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital - keeping the magic of childhood alive, is a project where the concept of keeping the magic of childhood alive in terminally ill children was drawn through the stationary. The little boy making magic medicine was created as a symbol of hope, healing, fun, imagination and was derived to make the children feel save as well as giving the childrens' parents the hope that their children will have the opportunity to stay alive as children and not grow as a weighed down little person by their terminal illness.

Roger Ballen 

Black and white photography as a medium. Roger Ballen: "Black and White is a very minimalist art form and unlike color photographs does not pretend to mimic the world in a manner similar to the way the human eye might perceive. Black and White is essentially an abstract way to interpret and transform what one might refer to as reality."

This is one of my favorite success stories... documenting the small dorps and villages of rural South Africa during the 1980's all the way up to shooting the video I FINK U FREEKY by DIE ANTWOORD.
