For the Love

Opening spread by Tarien

At the end of a very hectic week and working on multiple projects that lacked serious originality I had to find a way to let go and JUST CREATE. This is what I came up with. The images were sourced from Shutterstock.

Hope you like it!

Modern Day Goddess

Editorial Design by Tarien

I had some free time on my hands and started the re-design process on some pieces in my student portfolio. I have been meaning to update it for ages but just haven’t had the time.

This experimental layout design is made up to feature in a Cape Town’s pop art magazine called one small seed however the content is also suited to appear in a lifestyle or glossy fashion publication.

Hope you like it!

Super Awesome Lomo Love

by Tarien

I am a proud owner of a Diana F+. Woohooooo! Who can resist the charms of its beautiful lo-fi photos? Something this classic and crucial to analogue photography shouldn't be forgotten. I am smitten with this little mechanism. This weekend will be spent sourcing 120mm film at the Lomography store in Braamfontein, and experimenting at the Neighbourgoods Market. Watch this space for my first experimental prints.

Exhibition Poster Design

Poster design by Tarien

I just put this together for my good friend Pieter Vosloo so he can distribute this flyer and do a bit of self marketing before the big event. This photograph is very special and was taken of one of the locals when we were on a trip in Swaziland.

Protest Poster Design

Poser design and art direction by Tarien

This poster talks about the extreme water quality of the Hartebeespoortdam. By the use of exaggeration, I conveyed a serious message in a tongue and cheek manner. The objective was to raise awareness about the problem and ultimately generate a call to action.

Places

70 Juta Street, explored by Tarien

This is one of my favorite little Jo'burg gems which I stumbled on whilst doing a stock photography shoot with Johannesburg based photographer Pieter Vosloo. 70 Juta Street, nested in the heart of Braamfontein is the perfect place to visit when the creative juices  are low and you need a pick-me-up.

The photo's in this post aren't mine but I love the photography style, clever copy and beautiful typography.
